A Business Tax License is not transferable. The license is terminated when business ownership changes. The new owner will be responsible for obtaining his/her own Business Tax License.

You may obtain a Business Tax License application from the Finance Department or you may find one available for download; Business Tax License application. Depending on the type of business you will be conducting, you will have to show proof that you are complying with federal, state and county laws. Once you have completed the application you may submit it to the Finance Department along with copies of any required documentation and pay any necessary fees. The process for a Business Tax License may take from one to two weeks; certain applications may take as long as four weeks for approval depending on the type of business.
Application fee varies on the type of business and is based on your estimated gross receipts (Delano only) from the time you start your business to the end of that calendar year. Please contact our office for more information at (661) 721-3310 ext. 2203.
Any business operating from home, within City limits, must apply for a Business Tax License and a Home Occupation Permit. The Home Occupation Permit is required by the Planning Department, you may obtain more information at (661) 721-3340.
All Business Tax Licenses expire December 31st of each year. Renewal forms are mailed out during the first week of January and are due February 1st. The renewal fees are based on your gross receipts for the prior year. If you do not receive your renewal in the mail, please contact our office. Failure to receive a renewal notice does not relieve the business owner of his/her responsibility in renewing the business license nor is it grounds for waiving any penalties due.
